Bringing prescription medicine into Australia….

Are you planning your international relocation to Perth, and needing to bring prescription medication with you?

Before travelling to ANY country, you should always do a thorough check of the meds you are bringing, whether they are allowed, and if so, the quantity you are allowed to bring in.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) outlines what you can, and cannot bring into Australia. International visitors and people coming back from holidays can bring in most medicines and medical devices under the traveller's exemption.

If your drugs are allowed, only a maximum 3 month supply can be brought into Australia. Pack it in your carry on luggage, and make sure you have a letter from your Doctor on you, to present at border control. The letter should outline what you are taking and how much you are bringing with you.

Keep your medicines in their original packaging, so that they can be easily identified.

You must declare any medicines which may be subject to abuse or misuse. This includes steroids, strong pain medicines, cannabis and other restricted medicines.

You can find more info at TGA and Australian Border Force

Always pays to do your research!
