Margaret River

Here are my TOP 10 camping spots in the Perth area to consider for your next holiday getaway:

  1. Wave Rock: Hyden is the closest accommodation option to Wave Rock and offers a range of camping options, including powered and unpowered sites for tents, caravans, and camper trailers. The campground also has amenities such as hot showers, laundry, a camp kitchen, and a playground for children. It is open all year round, but is recommended to book in advance during peak season (October-April).

  2. Yanchep National Park: This national park is located about an hour's drive north of Perth and offers a range of camping options, including cabins and tents. The park is known for its stunning limestone caves and wildlife, such as kangaroos and koalas.

  3. Dwellingup: This small town is located around an hour and a half's drive south of Perth and offers a range of camping options, including cabins and tents. The area is known for its beautiful forests and rivers, and there are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy, such as bushwalking, kayaking, and mountain biking.

  4. Ledge Point: This coastal camping spot is located about an hour and a half's drive north of Perth. It's a popular spot for fishing, swimming, and surfing, and there are plenty of beachside camping options available.

  5. Serpentine Falls: This camping spot is located about an hour's drive south of Perth and is situated around the stunning Serpentine Falls. The area is known for its hiking trails, swimming spots, and natural beauty.

  6. Margaret River: This popular tourist destination is well-known for its wineries and surf breaks, but it also has some excellent camping options. You can camp right by the beach or choose a spot nestled in the forest. There are plenty of hiking trails and outdoor activities to keep you busy, not to mention fantastic wineries to visit!

  7. Esperance: The stunning beaches and turquoise waters of Esperance make it an excellent destination for camping. You can pitch your tent right on the beach, go fishing, or explore the nearby national parks.

  8. Rottnest Island: This car-free island off the coast of Perth is a popular destination for camping and outdoor activities. You can rent a tent or bring your own, and explore the island's beautiful beaches and natural attractions. Don't forget to snap a selfie with the island's famous quokkas!

  9. Kalbarri National Park: Located about 6 hours north of Perth, this national park has some amazing camping spots. You can camp near the Murchison River or in the park's interior, and explore the stunning gorges and rock formations.

  10. Coral Bay: This small town on the coast is a popular destination for snorkelling and diving, but it also has some great camping spots. You can camp right by the beach and enjoy the beautiful sunsets and warm weather.

There are plenty of outdoor activities and beautiful camping spots in Western Australia, and Perth is NO EXCEPTION! 🤗 The pics below are of my hubby and I as we trekked the Cape to Cape track down in Margaret River in 2022 - stunning and fabulous and highly recommend also!

Friendly reminder to pack appropriate gear for camping, adequate drinking water, good sun protection and check the weather forecast before you go on any camping holiday!

Have fun exploring the great outdoors of WA! 🏕️
