Hello Freo!

Building a list of things to do once you settle in Perth? Make sure visiting Fremantle is on your list!

'Freo', as it is affectionately known, is one of our favourite spots here in WA! The port city is rich in history and is home to Perth's oldest gaol and convict built maritime museum.

Just south of Perth CBD and easily accessible by train, Freo is a popular weekend destination with plenty of outdoor entertainment and dining options. I consider myself a Freo girl at heart, here are some of my favourites -

  • first stop is always coffee, and you can’t go past the iconic cafe that is Gino’s, on the main cappuccino strip - be ready to be delighted in all Italian fare!

  • browsing through the Fremantle markets which are open every weekend - buying crepes, listening to the live buskers and stocking up on fresh fruit and veg!

  • A bite to eat at a fave cafe, Duck Duck Bruce, a quirky and much loved little spot on Collie St {hint, try the Auber Jean dish, amazing!}

  • An afternoon drink at one of the many bars or pubs that keep popping up in Freo. Current faves of hubby and I are The Old Courthouse, The Norfolk, Strange Company and the Republic of Fremantle gin distillery!

  • If a spa treatment is the order of the day, then I can highly recommend Endota Day Spa on Essex St. I can never leave without purchasing their signature hand cream {I dare you to not!}

  • And last but not least, if you are in for a retail therapy stroll, then head to the west end for some beautiful art, furniture, design and book stores, where you can lose track of time very easily!

    Oh! And if you have kids, or are a kid at heart, head to the Esplanade Youth Plaza {pic} which features an awesome skatepark 🛹 {just make sure you have your health insurance sorted first!}.
