Moving to Perth Checklist

Relocating internationally to Australia is MUCH more than simply moving house 🏡

Where on earth do you start?

Here are some of our top tips for getting the relocation process underway:

  1. Use a timeline - whether that is a digital calendar, personal diary, or good old fashioned paper print out on the fridge {!}, choose one version and use that religiously as a timeline tracker for your move to Perth. Mark all important dates, action points, follow ups and appointments, on this timeline. If you want to get all fancy, you could even build your own #ganttchart….

  2. Declutter - even if you think your house doesn’t need a declutter, trust me, it does! There is no point packing and moving items across the globe that you simply do not need - it becomes a very costly exercise otherwise! Sort household items into three “buckets” - Sell, Store, Ship…..sell off (or donate to charity) any items you no longer use, or the kids have grown out of. If your relocation to WA is temporary, you may want to store non essential items with friends, family, or hire a storage unit. Lastly, identify those belongings which you definitely want to take with you on your move, then you can decide what mode of shipping to consider - a container, MoveCubes or possibly even just Send A bag?

  3. Ask for help - managing this international move to Perth is a BIG job! Consider what you can afford to outsource, and what will provide you with the most value. Saving time, saving money, getting expert advice - whatever is your driver, make sure you ask for help. Maybe it is booking a professional clean on your vacate, maybe it’s getting your car detailed before you sell it, maybe it’s asking a few close friends to come and help you pack for a day. Any help will make the process more manageable and enjoyable!

We provide our clients with an easy-to-follow countdown checklist, starting at 4 months out. It covers all the things you need to remember, right down to returning last minute library books or canceling those never used monthly subscriptions!
